Pet Urinalysis and Urine Testing
Laboratory pet urinalysis or urine testing is a tool used to detect the presence of one or more specific substances that normally do not appear in urine, such as protein, sugar, white blood cells or blood. A measurement of the dilution or concentration of pet urine is also helpful in diagnosing diseases. Pet urinalysis can assist the veterinarian in the diagnosis of urinary tract infections, diabetes, dehydration, crystalluria (struvite or calcium oxalate crystals), kidney problems and many other conditions. Crystalluria is a disease where your pet has crystals in your urine, and might cause them pain or distress while urinating. This is a problem that has a simple fix, there are many foods specifically for pets with this disease and they just have to eat this food for the remainder of their lifetime.
